Brian North of Red Technologies was introduced to me by the MD of Halcyon, one of the Group Companies in 2002 when he was project managing the build of our new £1,500,000 high bay warehouse in Huddersfield. He did an exceptional job in helping to design, procure and lead the team to get the job done – right on time and cost.
Since that time he has worked on projects in many of our businesses and helped enormously across a wide range of management and project based work. The projects ranged from relocation of offices and printing plants, emergency IT systems recovery to interim Managing Director.
In every case I was able to rely completely on Brian’s ability to pick up tasks quickly and turn a problem into a solution – and follow through with direct action and clear focus on the agreed objective.

In 2000 AWS Electronics, specialist contract manufacturers, were pursuing their strategic aims – developing their business scope, technical capabilities and size – organically and by acquisition.
AWS engaged Brian North of Red Technologies (RT) to identify potential acquisition targets, according to selection criteria that met these aims. RT developed a ‘long list’ and then refined this by detailed research and by visiting/interviewing the principals.
RT then organised visits with the AWS MD to the short-listed companies. A specialist Surface Mount assembly company was selected and Heads of Terms agreed following detailed due diligence, which was also supported by RT.
A key element of the finally agreed deal was the rapid transfer of the acquired company from Stockport to be integrated within the AWS premises in Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffordshire. Again, RT helped to put together the integration plan – including the physical transfer two months after completion, IT systems integration and employee/customer/supplier relations.
The whole exercise was undertaken in 6-9 months and was regarded by all parties as a great success, achieving all the agreed objectives. This was due in large part to the professionalism and project management/production expertise shown throughout by Brian North.
Brian and RT added the essential expert resource and independent assessment required to support the enthusiastic but already heavily committed AWS management team.
This initial success led to RT undertaking several other development projects for AWS over a period of several years.
